Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

Meeting convened at 7:45 p.m.

Rescue

 

Alan Felton is interested in attending the Paramedic Course. Felton works full-time for Lower Cape Ambulance and lives in Wellfleet.

 

Felton was advised that Cape & Islands EMS no longer offers a free seat to each town for the Paramedic Course. Wolf suggested Felton request assistance from Lower Cape Ambulance Association. Cape & Islands will be contacted to confirm that free seats are no longer offered.

 

Steward of the Hummer

 

Tom Steele would like to retain his position as Steward of the Hummer.  Steele acknowledged that he had not performed the steward’s duties for some time.  He added that there was a security situation at the airport and whoever accepts the position of Steward should be aware of it. Steele stated that he would like to retain the position.

Wolf suggested that several members of the department should be trained to use the Hummer.

 

Motion: Roderick motioned to re-appoint Tom Steele as Steward of the Hummer; Wolf seconded the motion with the stipulation that a Logbook of all activities performed on or with the Hummer be documented.  Logbook will be available at all times in the Hummer,

Board Vote: Four in favor; one opposed.

 

HUMMER –198 will be housed at the Airport.   A select few will be given the combination to gain access to the Hummer at the Airport.   

 

 

 

4th of July EMS coverage discussed.    

 

At a special meeting at Town Hall Chief Trovato and Adam Wolf presented their case re the need for adequate EMS coverage on the July 4th holiday. Wolf and the Chief will attend the Barnstable County Fire Chief’s Association meeting on March 23rd at the Harwich FD.  At the meeting Chief Klueber from Bourne will be asked for assistance thru Barnstable County.  Action Ambulance and AMR Ambulance have been contacted for information on the cost of renting ambulances from them for the 4th of July holiday.

                                                                                                                                                                                                

New Wellfleet Fire Chief Silverman will be sent a letter of congratulations from the BoFE.

 

Applications received from Doug Allan and Shawn Ricard for membership in the Rescue Squad.

 

Motion: Roderick motioned to accept Allan (pending his physical examination) and Ricard as members of the rescue squad; seconded by Wolf; All in favor.

 

Ladder 192

 

Chief Trovato reported that he had spoken to Chuck at EVM re the Ladder Pipe Nozzle for the Ladder truck. It will be completed and installed soon.

 

Engine Co. 194

 

Jeff Perry needs a new White Shirt, 18-inch neck, LS.

 

House Meetings and the use of the Day room discussed.  Rumor has it that the Day room is now for the use of Rescue or Lower Cape Ambulance personnel only stated Menangas. 

 

Drills will be held on the Sunday before the Monday of the month.

 

Meetings will be scheduled as follows:  Monday –     Engine Co. 3 (Main Station)

                                                                                        Engine Co. 5 (at Station 5)                              

      Tuesday -      Engine Co. 1

                            Rescue (the following week)

      Wednesday - Ladder Co. 2

                            Engine Co. 4

 

 

First Aid Jump Kit needed for Engine 4.  Captain Roda will be contacted for the kit.

 

Floor tiling at Main Station discussed. Ed Machado from Bldg & Grounds will be contacted to wax new tile floors upstairs.
