Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

 

February 16, 2006

 

 

Meeting convened at 7:40 p.m.

Rescue:

 

Rescue members unhappy with the board’s decision regarding payment for classes previously taken.  They will bring the subject back at a future meeting.

 

Election of Officers:

 

Lieutenant’s position - Monica Himes ran unopposed. Vote: 11 in favor; 0 opposed.

 

Captain’s position – Tom Roda ran unopposed. Vote: 11 in favor; 0 opposed.

 

Next Rescue business meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 14th.

 

Motion:  Alexander motioned to accept the vote of the rescue members; Wolf seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Justin White will return to town in April to relieve Roda of the Captain’s position.

 

Heartsafe Article:  $6,867.79 left in Article 33.

 

CPR classes for department members will be scheduled by Mark Duarte & Marilyn.

 

 

Chief’s Report

 

Fire Department CIP request for a third rescue vehicle may not be approved due to town budget restraints.  Roderick is looking into a FEMA Grant for the purchase of the vehicle.

 

Status of rescue members who no longer live in Provincetown or Truro discussed.  Lorne Russell would like to remain in the department as a Non-paid member.  Board will review the rescue roster sheet and make a decision on the status of all rescue members.

 

 

Ladder 192

 

Air Officer’s (E.J. Martinez) Report:

 

All Air Paks and bottles have been tested.  Repairs were also performed on some paks. Two masks have been taken out of service. $2,122.11 left in Self Contained Breathing Apparatus Article.

 

Ladder 192 should be greased twice a year advised Roderick.

 

Fall Traffic Hearing will be held on March 24, 2006.  Letter from the board requesting “No Parking at 89 Commercial St.” will be submitted.  March 3rd is the deadline.  Fire/Rescue vehicles have great difficulty driving thru the area.

 

Engine 193

 

New applicant Mohammed Faisal completed his physical exam.  He was advised to see a Neurologist due to a medical condition.

 

Engine 195 discussed.

 

Mechanic AJ Quirk submitted a list of maintenance and repairs needed to E195.  Chief advised that there is a lot of rust under the vehicle.

 

Main Station repairs discussed.

 

Floor and bathroom tiling in upstairs Officers Bunk room discussed. Estimates for tiling bathroom received from New England Tile of Hyannis, Anthony Avallone and The Marble Lady of S. Wellfleet.
