Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

 

February 9, 2005

 

 

 

Meeting convened at 7: 30 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

Zawaduk could not attend meeting because of his son’s hockey games on Wednesday nights.

 

Monks is on vacation in Florida.

 

Firefighter Equipment Grant application will be completed and submitted by 2/16/05.  We are eligible for an award of $15,000.  An Electric Ladder Pipe Nozzle w remote operation may be purchased for Ladder 192 should we be awarded the grant.

 

FY 2006 Budget review with the Finance Committee with the board will be held on February 15, 2005 at Town Hall.  Meeting will be announced on the Tone Test.

 

Applications for the Firefighter I & II Course are due by Feb. 14th.  The course runs from 2/21/to 5/14/05.  Message will be placed on the tone test.

Firefighters would like to be compensated for their time to take the course.  This will be noted on the Wish List.

 

Simulcast unit at water tower discussed.  UPS unit needed.  At present should the power go out there would be no back up unit for the 800 radios.  County Radio Shack will be contacted to get the unit up and running. 

 

Post-Incident analysis of the St. Peters church fire will be held in the near future. Joel Macara will work on the presentation.

Motion:  Roderick motioned to accept the vote of the house, pending his physical examination; Menangas seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

House #4

 

Two small portable Ground Lights, 500 watts, needed.  Ed Lyons will be contacted.

Motion: Menangas motioned to purchase the lights; Roderick seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

Updates needed from the Air Officer and the Radio Officer.

 

Old Brass fitting discussed.  Chief Trovato will go through the box of fittings.

 

Overhead Door Opener RBT – 311 (power head only) will be sent off to Raynor dealer, Northeast Builders Garage Door Corp. in Methuen, MA for repair.  All three units that were replaced will be sent off.

 

Three (3) Floor Mats will be purchased for the Main Station.

 

Motion:  Wolf motioned to purchase the floor mats; Menangas seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

Smokers’ Outpost for the exterior doors of the Main Station discussed.  Three (3) Site Savers will be ordered.

 

Motion: Alexander motioned to purchase the butt holders; Roderick seconded the motion, All in favor.
