Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers
January 5, 2005
Meeting convened at 7:24 p.m.

Appointments discussed. Members should see the Town Clerk to be sworn in for reappointment to the Board of Fire Engineers.
Captain & Lieutenant’s meetings will be scheduled on the 3rd Thursday of the month and will be held quarterly. Meetings in 2005 will be held on January 20, April 28, July 28 and October 27, 2005.
AED-Heartsafe Program discussed. Monks will contact Mark Brady to order the equipment needed to implement the program.
Rescue Vehicle 196 discussed. The Chief will contact Lucien (Bert’s Auto Body) re repairs needed to the vehicle.
Inspection of rescue vehicles by State Inspector discussed. The Rescue Captain and the Steward will deal with the inspector during inspections. If a problem arises the Chief will be contacted.
Johnson Street Station discussed. New apron to the building has been poured. Bathroom is being remodeled and relocated.
Low Band Base discussed. Mike Smith, from Radio Shack, still has not completed the installation of the new base. Smith has promised the Chief several times that he would complete the job but has not followed through. The Chief will call Smith again. Menangas suggested Dana Electronics in New Bedford. The Chief will contact other Fire Chief’s and John Garran for info on companies who work on Municipal Radio systems.
Emergency Dispensing Site Guidance discussed. County Health Agent Sean O’Brien would like to meet with town officials to discuss the matter on Friday, January 14, 11:30 a.m. at Michael Shay’s.
Mailbox Snow removal discussed. Letter received from USPO carrier asking that the approach to and exit from mailbox be kept clear of snow during storms.
New chairs for Meeting room (downstairs) discussed. Cushions could be ordered for chairs presently in use.
First Responder Training discussed. List of members who have not had the training will be requested from Instructor Mark Duarte.
Large Diameter Hose Class discussed. Chief will contact Instructor Kent Farrenkopf to schedule the class.
Dispatching issue discussed. Police Chief Meyer will be invited to the next board meeting to discuss dispatching issues.
Motion: Monks motioned to adjourn the meeting; Menangas seconded the motion; All in favor.
