Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

Meeting convened at 7:15 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

Cumberland Farms, 100 Shank Painter Road Site Redevelopment discussed.

Chief Trovato met with contractor from Cumberland Farms to discuss Fire Suppression on Self Service pumps at 100 Shank Painter Road store.  Plan submitted to the board reviewed and discussed.

 

500 gal Underground storage tank was found in alleyway of 294 Commercial Street. Chief is working with Tom Edwards to remove tank. At this time, owner of tank is not clear.

 

Plowing of Snow on National Seashore Roads discussed.

 

Race Point Road to Airport will remain a Priority One road for snowplowing purposes.

Provincelands Road (from just north of the Herring Cove Beach access road to the junction with Race Point Road near the park visitors center) will now be treated as a Priority Two road for snowplowing purposes.

 

Provincetown Inn has drained the wet sprinkler system located in the closed portion of the Main lobby building.

 

Department FY2006 Budget must be submitted to the Town Manager by November 22nd, 2004.

 

Cleaning of Blinds at Main Station discussed.  Estimate received from Scott Carreiro for $581.00.  10% off if done in November.

 

Tiny’s Way Subdivision plan reviewed by the board.

 

Cairns Iris Imaging Helmets are obsolete and can no longer be repaired according to Diversified Optical Products.  Four batteries will be ordered. Chief will call Chief Newman.

 

House Stewards discussed.

 

Letter will be sent to Captains and Stewards advising them that the Chief and the board are not happy with the performance of the Stewards.  Equipment and areas in the apparatus bay are not being maintained.

 

Custodian for Headquarters discussed.

 

Letter to Captains (to be read to house members) will be sent to see if anyone is interested in the Steward of Headquarters position.  Main entranceway, downstairs bathrooms, stairways, administrative offices and main meeting room are to be cleaned.

The Chief will speak to Jim Meads (LCA) regarding the LCA crew staying at the Main Station keeping the Day room, upstairs bathrooms, hallways and bunkrooms clean.

 

 

Antique Fire Engine discussed.  Letter to A.J. Quirk advising him the truck must be finished by a certain date.  (Chief will decide on date) Quirk has also been using the   room upstairs at the Johnson Street Station as a workshop. He will be told that it must be cleaned out so it can be painted.

 

Overhead doors (8 & 9) not working properly discussed.  Two new power heads will be ordered from Raynor.  When they are installed, old one will be sent off for repair.

 

Outside Air Conditioning units must be covered before it snows.  Bldg & grounds will be advised.

 

Air conditioning system at Main Station discussed.  Rusty’s will be called to check the system. Drains may be plugged. Chief Trovato will meet with them at the station.

 

Fire Prevention Week Muster discussed.  Letter will be sent to Captains, to be read to members, thanking them for their participation.  Time results of drills will accompany letter.

 

Headsets on pump panel installed by EVM discussed.  The Chief will speak to Chuck regarding the wire from the headset to the pump panel.

 

Master Stream Gun on Ladder 192 discussed. A different type of remote control for the gun will be researched.  EVM and Middleboro will be contacted.
