Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

 

June 9, 2004

 

 

 

Meeting convened at 7:50 p. m.

Purchase of EMS Radio’s discussed.

 

EMS Portables and EMS Mobile Radios can no longer be repaired.  Radio shack advised Macara that the 800 portable radios could be used with a new EMS Mobile Radio.  Motorola, Com-Tech Electronics and Pyramid Communications were contacted for estimates.

Cost:  2 Repeaters - $2,264.91 (Pyramid)

          2 Mobile Radios - $3,560.00 (Motorola) Total Cost: $ 5,824.91

 

Motion:  Alexander motioned to purchase 2 Repeaters and 2 Mobile Radios; Monks seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

Junior Firefighters discussed.  Chief Trovato will meet with the Guidance Counselor at the high school to discuss encouraging school children to join the department.

 

SARF Review discussed.  The State will be reviewing SARF’s for quality control.  Also, no part of a SARF is to be considered public record. 

 

Peter Conick will be contacted to instruct a class in the Fall.

 

Unpaid auxiliary/non firefighter Rescue member position discussed.

 

According to Insurance Agent Paul Silva when the board votes and approves the position the employee will be covered under the fire department’s insurance policy.

 

Motion: Roderick motioned to accept Julie Cataldo as an unpaid auxiliary/non firefighter member of the Rescue Squad, Wolf seconded the motion, Vote: 1 opposed, 5 in favor.

 

The position will be added to Fire Department Rules & Regulations re Personnel.
