Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

 

March 19, 2003

 

 

 

Meeting convened at 7:50 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

Bid on New Engine 193 discussed.

 

Motion: Wolf motioned to accept the bid from Emergency Vehicles of Maine, Inc. (Ferrara Fire Apparatus) in the amount of $249,985.00 for the purchase of a New Fire Engine 193.  Vehicle is to be insured by Ferrara and all tests on vehicle shall be completed by Ferrara in New Orleans, prior to delivery of the vehicle; Roderick seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Motion: Wolf motioned to send a letter to the Town Manager and Board of Selectmen advising them of the board vote and recommendation that the bid from EVM be accepted: Zawaduk seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Tier Two Emergency Chemical Inventory Report for 2002 received from the Cape Cod Nat’l Seashore for the North District Maintenance Yard and Province lands Visitor’s Center on Race Point Road.

Establishments in town that may be required to submit Chemical Inventory Reports discussed.  Spanky Sylvestor of the Barnstable County Hazmat Team will be contacted for updated info on the reports.

 

Three (3) Apparatus bay windows need to be replaced.  C&I Glass Co. will be contacted to repair the glass.  Cost of 3 Tempered glass panels including installation: $395.46.

 

Motion: Wolf motioned to have the glass installed on 3 doors; Roderick seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

Disposal of old couches in Day Room discussed.  Ray Duarte will be contacted to dispose of couches; if he cannot take them Dandy Dingers will be called to do the job.

 

Three (3) Indoor mats needed to protect entrance way floors at Main Station.

One (1) Outdoor mat also needed for front entrance.  Board approved purchase of mats.

 

EMS Survey will be completed.

 

Fire Dept Guidelines on Fire Safety for Venues in Town discussed. The board will compose the guidelines. The Inspection/Licensing department will be required to hand out the guidelines when annual establishment licenses are issued.  Managers of venues in town will also be required to instruct employees on the guidelines. Flammable decorations and furniture will also be addressed.
