Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

Meeting convened at 8:10 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

New Rescue Vehicle 197 Specifications discussed.  Bug Shield, Fog Lights and on spot Chains will be added to the specs before being advertised for bids.

 

Article 11, Section ___, to establish a Fire Protection District within the TCC Zoning District (TCCPFD) discussed.  (Attached)

 

Motion:  Alexander motioned to accept the drafted by-law and insert it into the general by-law to establish a fire protection district within the TCC Zoning District, Roderick seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Task Number 22403 – 4H. The Board of Selectmen voted as a matter of policy, to support the Fire Chief in his determination not to allow indoor pyrotechnic displays in the Town of Provincetown.

 

Motion: Alexander made a motion in support of the Fire Chief’s policy regarding banning pyrotechnics in the town of Provincetown, under 527 CMR 2.00 due to the venues in the community being too small for any type of pyrotechnic display, the types of construction, the close proximity and age of the buildings in town; Wolf seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

 

Installation of Fire Alarm System at Johnson Street Station discussed. Two Antique engines are now being stored in the station.  Estimate on system will be obtained.

Hydrants in Town discussed.

 

Thank you letter to members who shoveled out hydrants during the February Snowstorm Standby will be sent to Fire Houses to be read to all members.

 

Hydrant markers- Memo to Water Department Superintendent, Louis A. Briganti regarding an agreement made with James Cook (former Water Superintendent) that the water department would remove hydrant markers prior to a snowstorm and replace them when the storm is over.

 

Use of Hydrants -Water Dept. should be notified when hydrants in town are used by the fire dept. Information re the location of the hydrant and the date it was used should be forwarded to the water dept.  Department members will be reminded at their next house meeting.
