Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

Meeting convened at 7:55 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

Firefighter Safety Drill will be held on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002 at 9 a.m. at the Main Station. Captain Kent Farrenkopf of the Harwich Fire Department will instruct the course.  3 OEMS credits will be issued for the course.

Overhead Projector needed for the class.

 

Asbestos abatement work will be performed at Veterans Memorial School on Winslow St. from January 14th to the 24th, 2002 by McConnell Environmental.

 

Provincetown Inn will be shutting down and draining the motel and main lobby Wet Sprinkler System to prevent freeze-up.  The rest of the hotel remains open and operational including their respective sprinkler systems.

 

Board members reappointed to the Board of Fire Engineers by Town Manager Bergman.

 

New Engine 190 will be delivered on February 8, 2002.  Check for $219,963.00 will be presented to Chuck DeGrandpre from Ferrara Fire Equipment for payment of the vehicle.

New 800 Antenna will be ordered for 190. Wayne DeForest will be contacted for the antenna and David Clark Headphones.

 

Ladder 192 – Powder coat on roll-up doors is flaking.  Emergency Ajar Door light not working.  R.O.M. Robinson Shutter Co. and Middleboro Fire Apparatus will be contacted.

 

Simulcaster - Mike Smith from Barnstable County will be contacted re the Simulcaster.

 

Mirrors on Engine 195 will be changed to the type on new Marcey Oil truck.

 

Brass Plaque to be mounted in Rescue Vehicle 196 received from Brotherton Lettering.

 

CPR Training Material to be ordered by Lt. Francis.

 

2001 Rescue Statistics submitted to the board. (Attached)

 

List of Out-of –Service Fire Hydrants reviewed by the board. List will be also placed in

Fire trucks.

 

2001 Inventory of Engine 193 submitted by Steward Craig Martin.

 

Memo to Captains to remind Stewards that truck inventories should be submitted to the board annually.

 

Estimate for Johnson Street Station roof work submitted by Mike Czyoski discussed.

 

Motion: Wolf motioned to accept Czyoski’s estimate of $7,610.00 dated 11/6/01;    

               Alexander seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Wolf will look into installing copper on the roof.

 

Quit Smoking Program will be held on Feb. 1-4, 2002 thru Barnstable County.

 

Gear Needed:  Craig Martin and Allen Felton need new Helmets. Cairns 10/10’s will be ordered.  Martin also needs Bunker Pants.

 

Interior of Johnson Street Station needs to be painted. Sandy Turner will be contacted re scheduling the work with Building & Grounds.
