A discussion was held with the Board of Selectmen and
the following Memo was presented by the FinCom to the
Board of Selectmen:
Dear Members of the
We have received the Selectmen’s FY 2008 Budget as forwarded to this
committee on
We find ourselves in substantial agreement on each and every budget
article forwarded by the Board of Selectmen.
While we felt it would be wiser to wait until a new Police Chief was
identified before hiring new officers, we decided to support the Acting Chief
when he informed us there were finally Civil Service qualified candidates in-line for these long-vacant positions.
On the matter of the Capitol Intensive Budget , we reduced item 422-4 DPW
Sign Making Machine by $30,000 when it was discovered the true cost of the
equipment Is only $6,095, with a new computer.
The following items were modified during the budget process to reflect
updated assessments:
1.
Budget
310 Cape Cod Regional Tech was increased from 168,309 when our final
assessment was received for 202,326.
2.
Budget 910 Retirement/Benefits/Insurance was reduced
from 4,190,508 to 4,043,508 based on a reduced assessment from the
