Finance Committee Meeting

Finance Committee continued in a joint budget meeting with Board of Selectmen.

Chairman Cheryl Andrews opened the meeting at 6 PM noting the following attendees:

Board of Selectmen members:  Cheryl Andrews, Michele Couture, Richard Olson, David Nicolau. Sarah Peake.

Finance Committee Members Present: Ruth Gilbert, Chair, Sue Buerkel, Mark Leach, Ed Gage, Walt Winnowski, Matthew Clark, Gary Delius, Ginny Ross, Tom Thurston and Robert Vetrick

Members Excused: Alice Foley 

Other attendees: Town Manager Keith Bergman, Acting Asst. Town Manager Michelle Jarusiewicz

1A       PUBLIC HEARING: FY 2007 OPERATING BUDGET

Joint Public Hearing with Finance Committee (Charter §9-1-6)

 

Comments from Public

Betty WhiteLike to see the Budget for School Committee put back as number 6 on the Warrant.  

FinCom Comments – No comments at this time.

 

Discussion of Budget – Questions / Comments

 The Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee review all of the budget categories and agreed on the dollar amounts. There were no public comments

 

III. Public Safety -  #210 - Police Dept budget figure different. Finance Committee number is  $1,596,289.00. (-$41,549 difference of one patrolman and cost for schooling.) This also reduces the 910 Budget (Benefit) by $12K.

IV – Pubic Works  - Commend DPW for not bringing any Capital request this year.

Explaining Prop 2 ½ to the voters is essential – Board of Selectmen will meet and discuss this.
