FY 2006 Budget Review Hearings

Division I General Government

113-Elections & Town Meetings (Doug Johnstone-Town Clerk)

Decrease of 23%

Mark Leach made a motion to approve budget in the amount of $7,482. Robert Vetrick seconded and it passed 6:0:0.

161-Town Clerk (Doug Johnstone-Town Clerk)

Increase of 1.5%.

Ginny Ross made a motion to instruct Doug Johnstone to look into possibility of raising Business Certificate Fee. Robert Vetrick seconded and it passed 6:0:0.

Robert Vetrick made a motion to approve budget in the amount of $68,697. Mark Leach seconded and it passed 6:0:0.

Ed Gage arrived at 1:15 p.m.

122-Board of Selectmen

Ginny Ross made a motion of approve budget of $51,174. Robert Vetrick seconded and it passed 7:0:0.

123-Town Manager (Keith Bergman-Town Manager)

24.1% reflects increase for cost of hiring Asst. Town Manager. Concerns were raised as to necessity of hiring an Asst. Town Manager given that Manor and Pier seem to be on the way to resolve which will free up Town Manager. Discussion of funding for contracted services on an as needed basis rather than hiring full time position.

151-Legal Services

25% increase which reflects a more realistic budget as it has always exceeded previously budgeted amounts.

Robert Vetrick made a motion to approve budget of $175,000. Gary Delius seconded and it passed 8:0:0.

156-Administration

10% decrease.

Mark Leach made a motion to approve budget of $56,911. Gary Delius seconded and it passed 8:0:0.

157-Land Bank

3.7% decrease.

Robert Vetrick made a motion to approve budget of $324,344. Ginny Ross seconded and it passed 8:0:0.

169-Licensing (Doug Taylor-Building Commissioner)

.1% increase.

Mark Leach made a motion to approve budget of $37,958. Gary Delius seconded and it passed 8:0:0.

171-Conservation Commission (Doug Taylor-Building Commissioner)

178% increase,

Gary Delius made a motion to approve budget of $4,170. Sue Buerkel seconded and it passed 8:0:0.

173-Housing Partnership (Doug Taylor-Building Commissioner)

Level funded.

Eliminate entire budget of $10,000 and transfer to Planning Board budget.
