Creation of a Destination Marketing Organization
[DMO]
Ongoing discussion regarding
the creation of a Destination Marketing Organization [DMO] -- comments:
- Agreement that there is much more collaboration
than one year ago, but still some areas of duplication and redundancy.
Need for more collaborative meetings between PBG, Chamber, and VSB.
- Benchmark would be 6 to 8 months from now – is
collaboration the same, better, or worse?
- Are we all doing enough to make Provincetown a leading
destination?
- Creation of DMO would need funds and support.
- Could structure the DMO like the MCC Task Force.
- Will the creation of a DMO lead to the decline
and elimination of the PBG and Chamber? Why would all 3 be needed? What
benefits would there be for businesses to be members of more than one?
Answer key to support for creation of DMO.
- In the absence of a DMO, how can we behave like
one?
Subcommittee has gone as far
as possible. Appears that only effective model for DMO in Provincetown would be
to combine all – PBG, Chamber, VSB, Staff --into one entity
