Judge Welsh
Room
Present:
Members: Bill Dougal, Hunter O’Hanian, Henry Tuttle, Gabby Hanna
Staff: Building Commissionner Douglas Taylor
The meeting was called to order by Bill Dougal at 10:20 AM. Steve Melamed, Alix Ritchie, and Thanassi Kuliopulos had excused absences.
Henry distributed several handouts outlining a Community Health Assessment for wellness as well as information showing what other communities do. It was suggested that we use the assessment as a guideline.
The Aspen effect was discussed. What efforts did they make? More research should be done on this.
Bill suggests to determine whether or not healthcare will become an economic driver based on whether or not Care Campus will be developed.
Discussion ensued regarding assisted living, municipal health policy, primary healthcare, and future growth and development of healthcare - get a larger percentage of people to get their healthcare on the Cape and not elsewhere.
Henry proposed that a baseline of health be established for the town. Both the Sustainability Indicators Project and the Barnstable County Health Dept (contact Len Stewart) have baseline assessment guidelines and data. It was decided that further discussions should ensue when the other members are present.
Gabby made Motion to accept minutes of January 4 Meeting.
