DISABILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
Minutes of meeting on Oct. 3, 2001.
The meeting was called to order at 4 pm in the Judge Welch room at the
Provincetown Town Hall, Commercial St., Provincetown, MA 02657.
Members Present:Terri Horwitz, Toni Schiff, Betty Villari.
Members absent: Linton Watts (excused)
Also attending: Mark Latour, Liaison to the Town of Provincetown and Stephan
Nofield, Town Clerk.
There was an update about fundraising and possible elevator at the U.U.
Meeting House. This will also be discussed at a church meeting on Monday,
Oct. 15, 2001.
Discussion was led by Stephan Nofield to develop new policies. Four main
questions were raised as follows. 1. What is the Disabilities Commission's
vision for Provincetown? 2. What kind of issues does the Commission handle?
3. What should the end product of this policy development include? 4.
What is the best way to conduct a self-evaluation report?
Stephan Nofield is collecting policies around the area and is making extensive
notes of this meeting to be passed out at a later date.
Mark Latour volunteered to check all the curbs in town.
There is a need for a temporary secretary to start in mid-November. Toni
Schiff mentioned the need for another regular member of the Commission
with the possibility of getting someone from the AIDS Support Group -
PASG.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 pm.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001 in the Judge Welch
room at the Provincetown Town Hall.
