Town Hall: Meeting Room A

Members Present: Michelle DeMarco, Doug Johnstone, Rik Kapler (Wave), Jo-Ann DiOrio

Members Absent: Lou Ann Bowen, Jamia Kelly

-Approval of the minutes of the meeting from June 13, 2007

Old Business

-Jamia Kelly is officially on the Commission

-Terry Horowitz resignation from Disability Commission is not yet official; awaiting resignation letter

Brochure update: East end still needs to be completed; JoAnn offers to assist.

Mapping will be done electronically; Melinda has the software program and Michelle will ask her if she can update with new information.

Chamber of Commerce/P-town Business Guild: Commission to work with both organizations to see if they will use HP Icons to update their brochure for next year.

Beach Wheelchair: reviewed various types. Needs further exploration before final choice. “WAVE” will provide more info and hopefully demo video by next meeting and info on a Beach-walker, too. Doug will draft maintenance/rental procedure in preparation of a formal request to the VSB for funding.

Correspondence regarding poor accessibility:

- Issue with walkway at Art House: Michelle reports that owner changed out the pebbles to bricks.

-Letter from Michael Fernandes re: accessibility to building across from Spiritus and curb-cut at Cumberland Farms on Shankpainter being too steep; Doug will follow thru with email to Building Commissioner

-Picnic table at Herring Cove near snack bar: Wave reports it is back in its original location for visitors.

ADA Building Accessibility Assessment: Doug reports Structural Assessment is underway and Wave offers to assist. Programmatic Assessment will be done by the various Municipal Service Providers. Doug wants in-house legal posting and grievance procedure by next meeting. Doug to update transitional Plan in memo format, not a full/formal report. Emergency plan from Police and Dept of Health needs to be finalized.

New Business

Michael Fernandes interested in membership on the Disability Commission; plans to file application.
