Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the June 8, 2005 Disability Commission meeting read and approved.

Old Business:

Beach Wheelchair: Doug provided Commission with update of beach wheelchair, currently undergoing repair at the Highway Garage. Beach Wheelchair informational flyers were posted in Town Hall and the Grace Gouveia building in June. Terry suggested that flyer be advertised in the Banner next Spring to notify residents of the beach wheelchair’s existence. Jo-Ann asked about sign-out procedure for the beach wheelchair to determine usage through the summer. Doug said he would follow-up with the Parking department to determine check out procedures and to see if a figure can be obtained of those who used or requested use of the beach wheelchair.

New Business:

Membership: Toni mentioned Michael Fernandez is interested in joining the Disability Commission, and should have completed an application for Town Board Membership before the next Disability Commission meeting.

Town Hall Elevator: Doug informed group of his concern over the elevator in Town Hall, which has been out of service since last Friday, September 9^th. Discussion followed. Toni suggested the Commission send a letter to the Board of Selectmen expressing their concern over the length of time it has taken to repair the elevator. Doug will draft a letter for Toni’s approval.

Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 10:00 am.
