-         VSB funds

Discussion:

Cherie updated the new members on the last year of work on the AIDS memorial – funding, location selection, and all actions that have taken place to date.

VSB – has agreed to join the funds for $15,000 and to let the pcc decide the location without other board approval. VSB would like them to consider waterfront park as a viable option.

Jay Critchley- Frank updated the council on a conversation with jay regarding the fund raising and the process and is encouraging the board to have a concerted fundraising effort and a large art piece.

Amy updated…donors send the checks to town hall noted for AIDS memorial, mailed to pcc. Amy will process the checks and photocopy all checks to keep a tracking mechanism in place.

Discussed the press coverage in the banner 3 weeks ago and an update in this weeks edition.

Raising additional funds – cocktail party. Michael McIntyre is open to hosting a party but does not have time in May, so June would be the earliest. Frank talked to Michael.  Dorothy discussed the plan for the target market and how to raise additional funds.

The council discussed the various aspects of a fundraising party, the logistical needs, and the potential monies to be raised.

Update on the Board of Selectman’s Meeting on Feb.26

Discussion:

Cherie updated the council that the Board of Selectmen would like to have the RFP reviewed by the Town Council prior to it being circulated.

New Business

Poor Richard’s Landing – Art in Public Spaces

Discussion:

Deborah Paine appeared before the board to advise them of the Chapter 91 licensing process at 437-439 Commercial St. The property owner has been informed by DEP that the Street to Beach walkway through the center of the property is now considered mandatory by DEP. She explained that the owner’s had reached an agreement with DEP to NOT require the walk-through access and instead provide a Public Art Display (to be managed by the PCC) on the beach in front of the property.

Ms. Paine, as the agent for the property owners, is seeking support from numerous Town Boards, organizations, and individuals to protest the inclusion of the walk-through – as it would dramatically alter the character of the property as a peaceful enclave for working artists.

Motion:

Motion was made by Patty DeLuca, Seconded by Dorothy Antezak, to provide a letter from the council to DEP in support of the owner’s position.

Vote:

10-0-1 The motion passed. Stephen Borkowski abstained.

Cherie will write the letter, members can come to Town Hall to sign it.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:10 pm.
