There was a brief discussion about the
Poet Laureate roll, the funds available and the programs the council would like
to see the Laureate participate in.

VSB funds
Discussion:
Cherie updated the new members on the
last year of work on the AIDS memorial – funding, location selection, and all
actions that have taken place to date.
VSB – has agreed to join the funds for
$15,000 and to let the pcc decide the location
without other board approval. VSB would like them to consider waterfront park as a viable option.
Jay Critchley- Frank updated the
council on a conversation with jay regarding the fund raising
and the process and is encouraging the board to have a concerted fundraising
effort and a large art piece.
Amy updated…donors send the checks to
town hall noted for AIDS memorial, mailed to pcc. Amy
will process the checks and photocopy all checks to keep a tracking mechanism
in place.
Discussed the press coverage in the
banner 3 weeks ago and an update in this weeks
edition.
Raising
additional funds – cocktail party. Michael McIntyre is open to hosting a party but does not have time in
May, so June would be the earliest. Frank talked to Michael. Dorothy discussed the plan for the target
market and how to raise additional funds.
The council discussed the various
aspects of a fundraising party, the logistical needs, and the potential monies
to be raised.
Update on the Board of Selectman’s Meeting on Feb.26
Discussion:
Cherie updated the council that the
Board of Selectmen would like to have the RFP reviewed by the Town Council
prior to it being circulated.

Richard’s Landing – Art in Public Spaces
Discussion:
Deborah Paine appeared before the
board to advise them of the Chapter 91 licensing process at
Ms. Paine, as the agent for the
property owners, is seeking support from numerous Town Boards, organizations,
and individuals to protest the inclusion of the walk-through – as it would
dramatically alter the character of the property as a peaceful enclave for
working artists.
Motion:
Motion was made by Patty DeLuca,
Seconded by Dorothy Antezak, to provide a letter from
the council to DEP in support of the owner’s position.
Vote:
10-0-1 The
motion passed. Stephen Borkowski abstained.
Cherie will write the letter, members
can come to Town Hall to sign it.
