Cultural Council: Cherie Mittenthal (Chair), Marian Roth, Greg Anton, Dorothy Antezak, Melanie Braverman, Daniel Kells, Maryalice Johnston, Pasquale Natale, Michael Wright (Absent).

Cherie Mittenthal called the Cultural Council meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

Today’s Agenda:

1. Provincetown Poet Laureate: 2000.00 to Stanley Kunitz

a. Someone to read his poem

b. Dorothy will call.

c. Ask him about the schools.

2. Mass Cultural Council Grant 04/05: Received 17 Grants for review and consideration.

a. Discussed: Criteria for the grant to be awarded and the type of grant applications received.

3. Update on the Tourism Board, Art in Public Places Dollars: Yes, earmarked for us.

a. Working on Phase 1. It may take a year to complete.

b. Phase 2: Waterfront Park. Daniel Kells is e-mailing Steve Melamed to find out the time frame for when Phase 2 will start.

c. $10,000.00 from the Tourism Board. $3,300.00 matching funds from them.

4. New Business: Ask new applicant to be on the board. We voted to elect Amy O’hara to be on the committee. All in favor.

5. Other Business – any other business, which shall properly come before the board.

Daniel will be out of town October 31, 2004 – December 6, 2004.

Cherie Mittenthal requested a meeting for the board members October 25, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. in the Caucus Room to continue discussions of the grants, and other questions left open to the board members.

The meeting adjourned at 4:00.
