CABLE ADVISORY COMMISSION

MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 25TH , 2002 MEETING

 

The meeting was convened at 7:30pm

Present were Chair Catherine Russo, Tim McCarthy and Lou Ann Bowen

Also present were Mark Latour and MIS coordinator Gary Delius

Excused absence of Sue Hoffman

 

Commission members discussed the technicalities of holding meetings

and the proper procedures. Catherine Russo reported on her meeting

with Stephan Nofield who advised her on this subject.

 

There was a discussion about equipment selection for the media center.

Catherine and Gary shared information they had obtained from other

sources about the MacIntosh and PC editing systems. Tim McCarthy

made a case for the PC system as more people are familiar with PCs

Catherine suggested that the Mac was the preferred system of most

media centers. No decision was made.

 

Gary and Catherine presented the proposal they had written to the DPW

asking about using the fire station as a possible media center. All agreed

it would be a great site and the commission will continue to pursue it.

 

Tim McCarthy asked for more clarification on the conflict of interest issue with regards to renting from Paul DeRuyter.

Mark stated that the town counsel was satisfied that there was no conflict of interest and their written statement was available.

 

There was a discussion about inviting James Paul Ludwig and Mary O’Keefe from AT&T to clarify what resources were available to

the media center from AT&T. Catherine will call them.

 

There was some discussion about the need to hire a community

organizing consultant first and then a technical trainer.

Catherine and Mark will work on a job description for the media

center consultants.

Tim  moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:30. Lou Ann seconded.

The vote was 3 in favor, 0 opposed.
