Provincetown Cable Advisory Committee

Minutes from June 12, 2002

The CAC met in the Judge Welch Room at Town Hall at 4:00 P.M. on 6/12/02.

Present were members LouAnn Bowen (who arrived late), Su Hoffman, Catherine Russo and Tim McCarthy (Chair), as well as Assistant Town Manager Mark Latour, and Town resident Pat Patrick.

CAC members discussed what characteristics they were looking for in a video studio.  Members then discussed the June 26th community media education workshop with Rika Welsh.  Catherine is looking for someone to donate food.

Su agreed to handle promotion of this workshop thru Provincetown Magazine.

Tim agreed to handle promotion of this workshop thru LIP.

Catherine agreed to handle promotion of this workshop thru WOMR and the Banner.

LouAnn agreed to handle promotion of this workshop thru the Cape Cod Times and the Cape Codder.

Tim made a motion that Catherine Russo be named the new Chair beginning with the conclusion of the 6/12/02 meeting.  Su seconded.  The vote was unanimous for Catherine to be the new Chairman.

Catherine discussed establishing a Community Media Center Working Group.  This ad hoc group could advise the Cable Advisory Committee in an unofficial capacity on setting up a video studio.  It would not be subject to town requirements or procedures, and could include members from other Towns, as well as those who are in Provincetown for just a part of the year.  Anyone with expertise and interest would be welcome to join.  All CAC members agreed with this course of action.

It was discussed that invitations went out today to many committees, boards and individuals to inform them of the workshop on June 26, 2002.  The group agreed to send invitations to the Truro and Wellfleet cable committees; the Business Development Center; the PBG and the Provincetown Chamber of Commerce.

A motion was made by LouAnn Bowen and seconded by Su Hoffman to adjourn the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:52 P.M.
