Cable License Update:

The Chairmen of the 6 towns met in Eastham with Attorney Bill Solomon and his assistant Chuck Sherwood.  They have been hired to negotiate with Comcast.  Tom Cole, the Chair of the LCPARG passed out a letter from Bill Solomon explaining the history of the negotiations.  Carol passed that out to the members of the CAC.

 

Comcast is pulling out of the Orleans studio.  It will continue as a non-profit.  The towns are looking for 5% of the profits from Comcast to run the studio.

 

The next step is to formally hire the lawyer to represent the six towns of the Lower Cape. 

 

Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown’s cable license expire on 2009.  The other tree towns have agreed to join to negotiate together.

 

Only the Chairmen of the towns’ cable commissions will be meeting.  Then they take the information back to their respective town managers.

 

PTV Update

The CAC offered formal congratulations to Beth as PTV Coordinator and Lew Aabye as Technical Manager.

 

The current hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday 10-3, Wednesday 3 – 8 and Thursday 12 – 8.

Marjorie has been asked to find out the cost of recovering the hard drive that crashed in the PC last year.  She will take it to P-Town PC for an estimate and get back to Beth with the cost.

 

The CAC asked Beth to present a report at the next meeting.

 

On September 22nd there will be a PTV Open House.

 

Beth wants to establish working committees (i.e. programming, membership etc.).  She also will work to build a volunteer list. 

 

Beth has asked Lew for an equipment wish list and an urgent equipment list.
