BOARD MEETING
January 13, 2005
· V. Carrano will be back from vacation on January 18.
· There has been no response from Days re: stove.
· Dennis Anderson, Manor Director, has sent over a report received from Deaconess re: the Manor. Board members will review.
· New dining room tables and chairs will come January 20.

Annual
appeal contributions to date are $4479!
Last year’s total was $3900.
Increase attributed to sending out more letters to different groups and
raising the asking donation from $5.00 to $8.00.
·
Cookbook
sales to date are $1052. A new poster
needs to be made. B. Wolfman will find
the original photos. Vern Wilson will
take to Shankpainter Printing. I.
Charles is backup. Will sell more
cookbooks at Seaman’s on February 11.
G. Brennan, G. Johnstone and D. Oliver will wrap the books. G. Brennan will call the bank. The hours are

Bake
sales are scheduled for May 28 and September 3.
SALT Council:
· G. Howe brought 37 emergency 911 phones from the Sheriff’s office to Provincetown PD. They will make the adjustments and bring to the COA with 5 going to the Truro COA.
· First regional meeting of SALT was held. G. Howe attended and brought back a 2004 AARP binder with tapes and information on elderly scams. G. Howe also toured the new jail and reported it was very posh and automated.
· Maushope wants to have the DECIDE workshop brought to them in March.
· Trying to negotiate a merger between Provincetown and Truro SALT. Truro does not have a lot of support.

COA BOARD GOAL review draft was approved as revised.
New Business:

Charles announced that there would be a 7 speaker meeting in Yarmouth on
January 20 from 8:00 to 12:30 focusing on elderly issues and sponsored by
Medical Alarm USA. RSVP to Eileen at 508
398 7723. The federal government has a
program to put in a phone landline for elderly disabled and is free to those
whose income is less that $50,000. I.
Charles will speak to the director about a presentation here at the Center.

Gladys
will thank Friends in the newsletter for decorating for the holiday.

Alexander noted that Frances Raymond, Boston Cane recipient, will have a 100th
birthday party at Michael Shays on Saturday, February 5. She would like to present a birthday congratulations
certificate to her on behalf of the COA Board.
She will speak to the Director about it.
·
The
board will discuss its 2005 GOALS at the next meeting.
·
Board
approved a letter to send to our Senators and Congressman that states our
disapproval of the changes in the Social Security program.
·

Brennan will chair the next meeting while Chair is out of town.
There
being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:20pm. The
next meeting will be held on February 10, 2005 at 3:00p.m. in room #10 of the
Grace Gouveia Bldg.
