Present:  Brunetta Wolfman (Chair), Greg Howe, Anita Berman, Gladys

                Johnstone, Florence Alexander.

Absent:  Gerry Brennan (excused).

 

Others:  Vernon Wilson (Friends of COA treasurer), Valerie 

               Carrano (Director COA).

 

Meeting  called to order by Chair at 3:15 PM.

Minutes of November 13, 2003 approved as corrected.

Correspondence:  Chair sent letter to Affordable Housing Task Force to make the Town aware of our position regarding the Senior Center.  Reply from Town manager to affect that town has no plans to re-allocate Grace Gouveia building at any time.

Directors Report:  COA Director commended Bus Driver, Dennis, for taking seniors to Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day.  Letter of thanks will be sent to Dennis and Board of Selectmen.

Selectmen have made decision that Grace Gouveia building is not officially on the list for sewer hook-up at this time.

Maintenance man will speak with Gas Company to determine what repairs were made to gas leak in the kitchen.

Director distributed memo from Town Manager regarding Community Preservation Act staff meeting she attended at Town Hall on December 11, 2003 at 5:00 p.m.

February 2, 2003 possible date for special Town meeting.

Director asked that due to confidentiality requirements, only staff have access to office activity folders.

“Free Friday” starts December 12, 2003.  Games and free coffee for all.

Friends of the COA Report:  Vernon Wilson, Treasurer of the Friends, reported $2700 from Friends Appeal to date. $554 for slip covers and valances.  Board thanked Gerry Brennan for her time and effort in this matter. Reminders for Annual Appeal contributions will be inserted in January newsletter. 

Salt Council:  No representation at last meeting.  Next meeting at the Barnstable County Youth Ranch on December 16, 2003.

Old business:  Board thanked Dottie Oliver for gift wrapping cookbooks which will be sold December 12, 2003 at Seaman’s Bank in Provincetown.

New Business:  Possible Town meeting on February 2, 2003.

Motion made by Gregory Howe for Board to host an informational meeting at the Senior Center on January 30, 2004 and to request contribution of $2.00 to defray costs.  Seconded by Florence Alexander.  Unanimous.  So moved.

Community Development Working Group was attended by Chair.

Affordable Housing meetings in progress.

Growth Plan reviewed by Open Space and Affordable Housing Groups.

Public Schools will have Open House for Town, January 22, 2004.

Annual Report due in January.  Chair will bring draft to next meeting.

Motion to adjourn at 4.15 PM.
