COUNCIL ON AGING

BOARD MEETING MINUTES APRIL 3, 2003

 

Abbreviated meeting called to order approximately 5:00pm by Brunetta Wolfman, Chair.

 

Present:  Brunetta Wolfman, Greg Howe, Gerry Brennan, Anita Berman, Dir. Valerie Carrano, Friends:  Vern Wilson, Treas., Marge Perry, Florence Alexander

 

Minutes from the April 3, 2003 Board Meeting were approved as read – to be e-mailed by secretary to Town Clerk.

 

Correspondence:

·        B. Wolfman will ask Corresponding Secretary to send a letters to Sen. O’Leary and Rep. Gomes denouncing the Governor’s Plan to reorganize and diminish the importance of the State Office of Elder Affairs.

 

New Business:

As the Board of the COA was asked to formally state any Town Meeting items they

would either endorse or oppose, the following was voted:

 

Special Town Meeting:

·        Article  5 -      $40,000 study on future options for the Cape End Manor – SUPPORT

·        Article  6 - Zoning amendment: highway corridor overlay district rezoning – SUPPORT

·        Article  7 - Zoning amendment: highway corridor overlay district – SUPPORT

·        Article  8 - no longer on the Town Warrant.

·        Article 10- Real estate transfer fee/Affordable Housing Trust – OPPOSE

 

Annual Town Meeting:

·        Article  8 – General by-law amendment – town meeting start time – SUPPORT

·        Article  9 -  Establish a local Historic District - OPPOSE

·        Article 10-  General by-law amendment – street numbering on buildings – SUPPORT

 

A. Berman asked if a form letter could be written regarding the Governor’s plan to reorganize and diminish the State Office of Elder Affairs to be distributed to those wishing to write.  G. Brennan was asked to compose such a letter for copying in the absence of the Corresponding Secretary.

 

 

There being no further business, it was motioned and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  The next meeting will be May 1, 2003 at 3:00p.m. in room #6 of the Grace Gouveia Bldg.
