2. USDA
Update – David Guertin
DPW Director David Guertin requested authorization to
pursue grant opportunities w/ USDA Rural Development. Namely, projects to be
submitted may include: North Union Field as a new water source to include the
needed main transmission line from the site to South Hollow; Beach Point
Water/Sewer [as generally outlined in the submission to Mark Forest on May 1st,
2009]; decommissioning of Winslow Tank #1, along with increasing in height the
Mt. Gilboa water storage tank by 10'; and Library front landscaping. A
tentative appointment has been set with Ronald Koontz of USDA for this Thursday
morning (5/21/09), for a discussion of next step activities. This action is
sought by DPW for these projects since we have not had engaged the Board in
discussions - the town must move quickly with placeholders for this money.
MOTION: Move that the Board of Selectmen vote to authorize
staff to proceed with a grant submission to USDA Rural Development for water,
wastewater, and other capitol projects.
