SPECIAL MEETING – THURSDAY, JANUARY 21, 2009

Chairman Michele Couture convened the meeting at 10:00 AM noting the following attendees: Board of Selectmen members: Michele Couture, Elaine Anderson, Austin Knight, David Bedard, Mary-Jo Avellar

Other attendees: Town Manager Sharon Lynn, Assistant Town Manager David Gardner, Town Accountant Alexandria Heilala

The following are meeting minutes, in brief.

1. CPC APPLICATION

MOTION: Move that the Board of Selectmen vote to approve the CPC Grant Application for Town Hall in the amount of $2,000,000:

2. CONTINUATION OF BUDGET DISCUSSIONS

The Board of Selectmen agreed to schedule a special meeting to further consider the budget discussions on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 5:00 pm to be held in the Manager’s Conference Room, 16 Jerome Smith Road.

The Board of Selectmen agreed to schedule a joint meeting with the Water and Sewer Board to hear the Water Rate Analysis Report of Mark Abrahams in mid February.

Mary-Jo Avellar recused herself from the discussion involving the Union as her husband is a town employee who services are leased to the Provincetown Public Pier Corporation.

MOTION: Move that the Board of Selectmen vote, pursuant to MGL C. 39, §23B, clause 3 to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing litigation; and not to convene in open session thereafter. [Roll Call Vote]

Town Manager to approach the Union to forego the contracted raises and to discuss the potential to furlough for a period of up to three weeks.
