PROCLAMATION TO FIRE DEPARTMENT
Prior to the start of the meeting the Board of Selectmen read and presented a Proclamation declaring Tuesday, September 11, 2007 as “Provincetown Firefighters and Fire Responders Day” to Dan Notaro and Eli Martinez, members of the Provincetown Volunteer Fire Department.
The Board of Health called their meeting to order
with the following members present: John Livingstone, Geraldine Anathan, Duane
Gregory, Ken Janson, Tom Gaudreau, Health Agent Jane Evans and Health Inspector

MOTION: Move that the Board of Selectmen vote pursuant to MGL C. 268A, §19, and as appointing authority for the Board of Health, to
make the determination that the financial interest of appointee, Duane Gregory IS NOT so substantial as to be deemed likely to affect the integrity of the
services which the municipality may expect from the appointee.

2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS
Bonnie Campbell – Brainstorm ideas – from living in other
states she had a bill that included water fee, sewer fee, and trash pick-up
fee. This might help here. Agree with Mary-Jo Avellar to educate visitors to
recycle. Utilize grants more.
Tom Thompson - Our Town Bell is still not working. I was here a year ago asking why it was not
working. Where are we on this at this
time?
Michael Ledger – I want to remind the Board that the
recycling laws are not being enforced and when are we going to get serious
about it?
3. SELECTMEN STATEMENTS

Congratulations on all the events we had
this weekend. Every event was
successful.

Town Hall Renovations? Answer:
Sharon Lynn – Request for Qualifications – We’ve received seven
responses. The review committee is in
the process of reviewing them and we are meeting Wednesday of this week, and
will have recommendations based on this meeting. We will take the next steps for that for the
Special Town Meeting.
Library Boiler? Answer:
Sharon Lynn - Mr. Mulvey has been very instrumental in working with the
Mechanical Engineers that we’ve had read all the reports, and has been meeting
with the original contractor for the boilers and HVAC systems. We’re getting positive feedback, and the
boilers will be fixed before the season.
Mr. Mulvey is in contact with Town Counsel, and everyone is in the loop.
I feel confident that they are going to make good on the boiler.
Drug Bust - This has been an ongoing process. Congratulations to the Provincetown Police
and the Chief in particular, and thanks also to
Fees for renting Town Hall -
need to have this as a future agenda item.

In response to Ms. Campbell – we’re trying to lean away from
additional fees.
Our Grant Administrator is Michelle
Jarusiewicz and she does an amazing job at finding money for us.
Recycling – this is a big opportunity for recycling, and I applaud all the work
that your group is doing. I think that this is a big opportunity for recycling
and for some of those regulations to come in to play.
I want to remind everyone that the Warrant
closes on September 28th.
Moderator papers – the final date to apply is September 21st.

2008 Community Oriented Policing Grant

approve the application and acceptance of $11,299 from the Executive Office of
Public Safety Community Oriented Policing Grant to cover $1000 for Alcohol
Server Training, $1000 for Cape Cod Law Enforcement Council training dues,
$5600 for specialized professional equipment (in-car computer), and $3699 for
continuation of house numbering project.

Towing -
Contacted Mr. Silva concerning a six months contract. Wouldn’t say he said
no. I think he is looking for help with
the storage part portion, fees, and mostly the abandon car issue. He’s looking
for some assistance from the town, and he doesn’t feel that he is getting it.

were sworn in last week, and they started Sunday the 9th. They will be attending the
