SPECIAL MEETING – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 2007

Chairman Cheryl Andrews opened the meeting at 12 Noon noting the following attendees: Board of Selectmen members: Cheryl Andrews, Michele Couture, Richard Olson. David Nicolau is on his way.

Excused Absence: Sarah Peake

Other Attendees: Consultant Thomas Groux of Groux & Associates

Recorder: Vernon G. Porter

The following are meeting minutes, in brief.

1. TOWN MANAGER SEARCH PROCESS

Chairman Andrews explained that in the interest of moving the process along expeditiously, she made a unilateral decision to call for this meeting today to revisit the Board’s negotiations as opposed to waiting to Friday night. If it turns out that the best thing to do is to wait for a full board on Friday night – that is an option we have. Frankly, it’s up to the Board not to her to make that decision. If at any point a decision needs to be made…. it should go to a full board and not to her. So that’s the purpose of today’s meeting. The Board is allowed by Mass General Law to go into executive session with Consultant Tom Groux and he can update us as to where they are as of today.

2. TOWN MANAGER SEARCH

MGL C.39,§23B, Clause 3

MOTION: Move that the Board of Selectmen vote pursuant to MGL C.39,§23B, clause 3 to go into executive session to conduct strategy sessions in preparation for negotiations with nonunion personnel; and NOT to convene in open session thereafter.
