Old Business:

ú Minutes were approved from previous Committee Meetings dated 11/1/2000,

3/29/2001, and 4/12/2001.

ú Geraniums were planted by Robin, James, and Gerry.

ú James announced that benches had been erected as planned.

ú Gift tree not as yet purchased by James.  He will have it done for the next

meeting.

ú 2 different Paysage landscaping plans were reviewed and discussed for the

improvement of the Town Green (bas-relief).  It was decided to accept plan #3

(a more open version) but to incorporate the low scrubs along the sidewalk

from plan #2.  It was also decided to include a bike rack on the outermost

left side (facing the Green) or wherever Martha thinks best.

James will call Martha after 6/7 to make the necessary changes.  She will

then draw up the revised plan for the Committees approval and for the

Committee to take to a June Selectman Board Meeting (either the 11th or the

18th) for their information.  Martha will again make any changes necessary

after the Selectman Meeting, but no changes are anticipated.

The plan will then be presented by Martha at an open Beautification Committee

Meeting to be held on June 23rd at about 12:30p.m.  James will notify the

BANNER to announce this meeting.

James will have to speak with the Monument people to get their OK on

"infringing" on some of their property when the new landscaping plan is

implemented.  He will also ask for their cooperation for the first phase of

the landscaping improvement plan - the cleaning up and removal of volunteers

or unplanted forest growth behind the bas-relief, and to trim back those

trees so the new evergreens planted behind the bas-relieve will have sunshine.

New Business:

ú Bills were approved for payment: Paysage plans, and geraniums and

fertilizer for the annual town planting.

ú Gerry was asked to act as secretary as she has a computer for typing

minutes.

ú Gerry reported that all islands are in need of 6 - 8 creeping juniper

plants or other evergreens to cover bear spots.

ú Robin volunteered to act as liaison to DPW for a watering person and the

ability to buy planting material at Bayberry's with the DPW's 25% discount.

Gerry has a watering/weeding person in mind and will ask if she's interested

@ $8.00/hr. for approx. 10hrs./wk. in the beginning

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Gerry Brennan
