Present: James Mack, Louann Bowen, Joan Barron

Meeting called to order at 1:20 PM Rec'd from B. Rushmore a copy of the Rules and Regulations of the Beautification Committee. to be kept in Archives (?)

Moved to accept minutes of 1/11/2000 mtg,, prep. By JB. LB moved, JM seconded.

Discussion ensued about the present committee making a new mission statement. JM says lets focus on I problem and very visibly tackle it.

Robin Evans may join us as new member.

Long discussion that town needs a new tree warden and a new groundskeeper.

LB discussed grant money avlable. Mass. RELEAF grants from Mass Urban Forester, Div of Envir. Mgmt., Mass. Applic due March 16. 617 626 1459, grants up to $5000. Re; one‑time appropriation of capital funds. All $$ for purchase of trees.

LB savs we need to identify spots to put new trees.

Suggestion: get list from Barbara R. Of treeplanting volunteers.

1:50 PM Dave Guertin arrived. He said when our budget passes we'll have access to all DPW efforts. If budget doesn't pass, we'll have access to a kid w. a van half‑time.

Agenda items: Future projects: 1. work on bas relief 2. Finalize replacement of tree at library., targeted for Arbor Day'?. Our role9 Newspaper notice re time and date.

DG still extending sidewalks, Bangs st. East, Coast guard station West, 100 more feet'? More tree wells'?

Disc re: proposal from Shannon Tree re GET RID OF tree by the DOUGH BOY, front of town hall, dead tree.JB moved, LB seconded. All say aye.

Dave Guertin said he's in receipt of new bike rack, 16 ft. long ($20000.?) we must vote next mtg re placement.

JM questions Dave re old cemetery. BSG engineer firm in Boston, they're cemetery engrs and archts.

LB makes motion to have DPW put tree wells in all new sidewalks, to use every opportunity to put in tree wells. JB seconds. All say aye. Passed.

Dave Guertin departs at 2:30 PM

JM discusses issue re: gift tree for $125. Rec'd, who own the 9/20/99. In honor of ron robin and his partnerMEWS. They might like a street tree.. JM will call Ron for opinion.

We must re‑introduce ourselves to other committees.
