The
Beautification Committee held a regular meeting on June 20, 2005. Members
present were Mary Ann Powers, Lou Ann Bowen, and James Mack. Barbara
Rushmore also attended.
The meeting was called to order at
12:40 pm.
Barbara Rushmore updated the committee
on the activities of Trees For Town. She has planted replacement trees at
the Skateboard Park on Jerome Smith Road, after several of the evergreens died
over the winter. She has also planted trees at Waterfront Park.
Robin Evans, Beautification Committee member, has been added as a signer to the
Trees For Town bank account, as a safety measure, so in the unlikely event of
Barbara not being able to sign on the account. If something should
ever happen to Barbara, the funds from this account would go into the
Beautification Committee account.
Lou Ann moved we pay to replace the
beech tree (an honorary tree for Ron Robin and his partner Ed, given to
celebrate their commitment ceremony several years ago), with a copper beech or
weeping beech tree of similar size. James will ask Jennifer to get the
tree, and DPW to plant it. Approved unanimously.
Mary Ann moved we reimburse James
$560.00 for flowers bought for Lopes Square and in front of the post
office. Approved unanimously.
James moved we purchase a 6' bench from
the Gift Fund in honor of Garden Renovations Crew (the check having been given
by Jennifer Crooks to the committee for this purpose.) Approved
unanimously.
Mary Ann moved to reimburse James for
$181.00 paid to Nameplate Technology for tree tags placed on memorial trees at
Lopes Square.
James moved we pay $188.00 to Bayberry
Gardens for annuals planted by Nathan Herrick at traffic islands.
Approved unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 1:20 pm.
