Beautification Committee Meeting

February 15,2005

Meeting called to order 11:15AM

Minutes approved for May 24, 2004. Motion by James. second by MaryAnn

Lopes Square update:

Work going out to bid. DPW hopes to start project by April 1.

DPW will inform BC if costs not covered by other sources

and BC funds are needed.

Finances/Budget:

Budget cut for year to approx 8000.$ VSB requested BC to work directly with Nathan of DPW on island plantings. Jennifer to follow up. VSB also requested BC to pay for plantings this spring. Discussion to wait until word from DPW to vote on money allotment for Lopes Square.

New Business:

Request from B. Rushmore after inspection of town-owned

benches for slats in need of replacement. 16 slats which total

$1265.

Motion by James to order slats. Second by MaryAnn. Vote

unanimous.

Request for memorial benches (2) at Lopes Square.

1. Donation from Carrie Benjamin and family in memory of uncle

Ronald Lopes.

Motion to approve purchase by MaryAnn, second by James.

Vote unanimous.

2. Donation from Kim Oliver in memory of Judy Treese. Motion

to approve purchase by Robin, second by MaryAnn. Vote unanimous.

Benches to be purchased for needed places such as library? theatre?

Shankpainter Pond? with 2005 budget. Motion to pursue buying five 8' benches by MaryAnn. second by James.

Vote unanimous.

Above leaves $2000. allocation for Lopes Square.

Robin to contact Cecelia about playground upkeep.
