BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE MEETING

September 19,2002

Meeting called to order at 12:10PM

Minutes approved fro meeting of August 26,2002

Old Business

A. Bas Relief

Design alternatives reviewed with DPW staff and Paysage. Final choices of plant material and layout determined. Committee will now plan joint meeting with Monument Board for final approval.

B. Jerome Street Lot

Buffer zone of trees and shrubs to be planted Long Jerome Smith Rd in 10-foot width between entrance and exit of lot. (Lot is larger than previous lot)

Skateboard park to be located in northwest corner of lot

near stand of pines. (Leeching bed D West)

Buffer zone along Rt 6 border of Jerome Smith Lot

to be lined by trees that fit septic engineer's specifications.

Dog park to be located east of Jerome Smith Lot at leeching

field D East, an area adjacent to Jerome Smith but already

bounded by trees on its north side (highway side of park).

Border of trees around Jerome Smith will have to wait

until leeching fields and sewer pipes finished, and tree specifications can be discussed with Metcalf & Eddy, Environmental Partners.

C. Pier

Discussion of placement of barrels and benches--to be continued

D. Lopes Square

Anchor to be repaired by Nov 1.

VSB request of $60,000 for Lopes Square renovation under

consideration.

Curbing and brickwork to be contracted out; DPW to do

labor.

New Business

Discussion to replace geraniums in planters with mums. Vote unanimous to keep planters as is.
