Minutes January 16, 2002

Meeting called to order 11:20AM

Present: James Mack, chair, LouAnn, Robin, Mary Ann

Excused absence: Jennifer

Old Business. Meeting with Sandra Turner, DPW

a.) Bas Relief: verification from Michelle that $23,000 has been encumbered for budget projection for Paysage design of Bas Relief. This excludes electrical and sprinkler system changes.

Some of this work not within scope of DPW must get Paysage to include electrical and changes to irrigation. Can then begin to solicit bids rom outside contractors if price under $23,000

b.) Islands

Islands are within 5-year plan of DPW. However budget has

been cut and no new projects are possible. There is no

money for islands at present.

Rotary Club has expressed interest in Lopes Square res-

toration. Has offered money towards project.

Ideas put forth for Lopes Square. Shannon Perry invited to next meeting to display her concept of restoration.

New Business

a) Update on VSB grant for watering, etc. James presented to

Board. Waiting for their decision.

b) 10 foot bike racks. Possible locations: Johnson St

Cabral's marina, CCNS, cinema

continue to explore options

c) Gift tree planting...to be combined with Bas Relief

d) Plantings at Lopes Square

Possibility of two plantings, spring and fall.
