report by dpw

At the Board of Selectmen meeting, May 14, an update of the Pier Reconstruction project was given by David Guertin, William Zoino, pier consultant, and Joyce Guide, Building Committee.  The Board voted to approve deductive Change Order #2 in the amount of  $639,464 for scope reductions and additive Change Order #3 for $300,000 to proceed with the tapertube pile installation program for the main pier and “T” section.

David Guertin reported that pile driving is completed in front of the Whydah Museum.  Pile driving away from the Museum towards the shore will be completed in 6 days.  There will be a dormant period of pile driving for approximately 6 to 8 weeks while AGM awaits the delivery of the tapertubes.  During this time, AGM will be setting pile caps and deck plank.  The Whydah Museum has alleged that their building sustained damage from the pile driving.  They have contracted with AGM to drive a number of piles at their ferry dock.

Mr. Guertin reported Mr. Zoino had completed an Interim Report.  Joyce Guide said she had a copy and would distribute it to Committee Members.  Joyce Guide asked if Mr. Guertin could produce a spreadsheet, which listed particulars of each Change Order approved to date.  Mr. Guertin said he would do so at the next meeting.

David Guertin reported that the Town would be hosting a Pier Grantors inspection meeting sometime in June and that the Building Committee needed to discuss and plan this meeting.  There would be 12 to 14 people coming on the fast ferry around 11am and leaving at 4pm.  Carla Anderson suggested she could arrange a ride on the “Y and C”, in order to facilitate inspection of the project.   It was agreed that this was a very important meeting and the Building Committee needed to make appropriate arrangements.  A tentative schedule was proposed:
