Animal Welfare Committee meeting January 16, 2008

All members were present. The meeting was called to order at 3:32. The minutes of the December 19 meeting were accepted as written. Nagle moved, Milkewicz seconded. Unanimously voted.

Hanna will not be here on February 13 as Zorro will be at Madison Square Garden Dog Show.

Brian Carlson requested signature of AWC for grant application for generator for the Community Center emergency center. CASAS also signed a letter.

Prototype of new poop bag dispensor for town landings made by David Butler was demonstrated and approved by AWC to be shown to Sandy Turner for hanging at 8 new spots. MacDonald will ask Butler to make 11, including 3 for Dog Park. He has 5 made already. Suggestion that a nail and wire be added to keep from losing the cotter pin.

Nagle will email Turner with a proposal that AWC will install and maintain the stations and find out how many of the awful hateful current bags are still available. Nagle will research more user friendly and less expensive bags. DPW and all dog walkers hate the old ones.

Dog park to be included as part of the Greenway. MacDonald will research.

Nagle moved to adjourn at 5 PM. Holley seconded. So voted.
