OTHERS PRESENT:    Doug Johnstone: Town Clerk

MINUTES:

• EGB motioned to submit minutes from the last meetings.  All in favor: Passed

• Brought forth further discussion of the proposed dog park.  Location was talked about and again reiterated need for visiting neighbors over at Jerome Smith.

• This is a political and diplomatic challenge!  We need to obtain funds for the agility course.  Friends/business sponsoring friends-Cocktail party. Mark trails in wooded area next to proposed land for owners to run/walk with dogs. Must have marked signs for children that they are there “at own risk.” Sand as the ground cover was agreed on over gravel or crushed shells.  Space available for smaller dogs to play and run.

• How do we get the land?  The committee talked about getting an article together by February for the meeting in Spring. EGB’s goal is to have this as an article early January by Selectmen to review. EGB passed motion to get this together.  All in favor.

• The committee then brought the topic of “poop stations”

• EGB shared that she bought and donated a poop station with bags to the town in September.  At this point it has yet to be installed anywhere.  The committee would like to see local businesses sponsor the stations. This needs to be passed by the selectmen.  A map would be brought to DPW with strategic placements of the stations.

• Doug Johnstone handed out a memo describing  Article 12: Local Regulation of Dogs being brought fourth at the town meeting article.

•The additional topics discussed were the following: Budget for poop station bags, raising dog fees for dog license, public service announcements, handing out fact sheet with dog license, location to bring animals in the event of a disaster.
