BOARD OF ASSESSORS MEETING

Town Hall, Friday, June 15, 2007

CALL TO ORDER:  Mr. Muse called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:                   Mr. Greg Muse (Chair)

PREVIOUS MINUTES:

Ms. Deluca made a motion to accept the BOA Minutes of  June 01, 7007,  Ms. Parsons seconded the motion, and the motion carried by a 4-0 vote.

 

Ms. Patty DeLuca excused herself from meeting at 8 :37 a.m.

 

PUBLIC STATEMENTS:

REAL ESTATE PROPERTY ABATEMENTS (17)

The Board reviewed the first list of FY 2007 Real Property abatement applications. Seventeen applications were reviewed with the following recommendations:

 

1.       455 Commercial St – Granted to Value of $1,303,100. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.

  1. 3 Aunt Sukeys Wy – Granted to Value of $766,900. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  2. 35 Pearl St – Granted to Value of $893,100.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.

4.       15 Jerome Smith Rd – Granted to Value of $581,900. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.

  1. 7 Anthony St – Granted to Value of $651,700. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  2. 18 Montello St – Granted to Value of $616,400.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.

7.       3 Conant St – Abatement Denied. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.

  1. 3 Upper Miller Hill Rd – Granted to Value of $1,274,400 The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  2. 104-A U2 Bradford– Granted to Value of $437,100.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  3. 616-U12 Commercial St – Abatement Denied. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  4. 577-UCTG Commercial St – Granted to Value of $984,800.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  5. 8 Pleasant St – Granted to Value of $972,220.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  6. 157-A  Commercial St – Granted to Value of $1,329,900.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  7. 43 Bradford St – Abatement Denied. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  8. 11 Brewster St – Granted to Value of $662,300.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  9. 528 Commercial St – Abatement Denied. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
  10. 5 Conant St – Granted to Value of $1,346,900.The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.

Exemptions

The Board was presented with a list of Eleven FY 2007 exemptions to date with the following recommendations:

 

Clause 17D-Surviving Spouse/Elderly  Two applications were considered for this period.  The applicant meets the current requirements. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Clause 41C - Elderly PersonsThree applications were considered for this period.  All applicants meet the current requirements. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Clause 37A - BlindNo Applications at this time.

 

Clause 22 - VeteransOne application was considered for this period.  All applicants meet the current requirements. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Community Preservation Act  Five applications were considered for this period.  All applicants meet the current requirements. The motion carried 3-0.

 

 

 

MISCELLANEOUS:

None

 

 

 

GENERAL UPDATE FROM PAUL GAVIN, PRINCIPAL ASSESSOR

 

1)      The Finance Managers attended a seminar sponsored by the Department of Revenue on June 7, 2007. The DOR will be invited to the Provincetown Town Hall to review all of our Management and Financial procedures.

2)      Board of Assessors has two open positions at this time, one full time, and one alternative. Only one application has been received, with no action at this time.

3)      Positions are open at this time for summer inspectors. Applications are being reviewed.

4)      Mr. Gavin would like all “Exempt” Real Estate properties inspected by August 31, 2007.

5)      Real Estate Abatement Application reviews are estimated to be completed within the next two BOA meetings.

 

 

NEXT BOA MEETING:

Next meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2007 in the Meeting Room “A” of Town Hall at 8:15 a.m..

 

 

ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business to come before the Board at the time, Mr. Gavin motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ms. Parsons. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
