Minutes of the

BOARD OF ASSESSORS MEETING

Town Hall, Tuesday, February 8th, 2005

 

CALL TO ORDER:              Ms. Parmakian called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:            Ms. Pam Parmakian, Chair

                                                Mr. David Nicolau

                                                Ms. Patty DeLuca              

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:            Ms. Leslie Parsons (Excused)                                                                                           Mr. Greg Muse (Excused)

 

STAFF PRESENT:                 Mr. Paul Gavin, Principal Assessor

                                                Mr. Karl Shipman, Clerk

                       

 

PUBLIC STATEMENTS:

There were no members from the public in attendance.

 

MINUTES:

Ms. DeLuca motioned to accept the minutes from the November 16th, 2004 meeting.  Ms. Parmakian seconded and the vote was carried 3-0.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Gavin brought before the Board a letter for the DOR requesting authorization to partially abate an FY 2004 real property tax bill.  The original assessment of $429,600 was erroneously made before two buildings were constructed at the property.  The Assessors’ Office seeks to request abatement of the bill in the amount of $1,259.67.  Mr. Nicolau motioned to accept the Assessors’ abatement in said amount, and the motion was seconded

by Ms. DeLuca.  Ms. Parmakian recused herself, and the vote carried 3-0.  A signed vote in favor by absent Board member Ms. Parsons was accepted.

 

 

Mr. Gavin presented the Board with documentation to authorize the FY 2005 Senior Work Credit exemptions as offered through the Council on Aging.  Signatures from three Board members were secured.

 

Mr. Gavin provided a brief update on current Assessors’ Office activities, upcoming changes and deadlines.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Ms. Parmakian and seconded by Mr. Nicolau.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:38 a.m.
