Diane Shumway reported that the Cape Museum of Art has
asked her to curate a show from the Provincetown Art Collection sometime next
year.
On the suggested purchase of one of the Del Deo
paintings, Neva reported that she has heard nothing further from the selectmen
and that she is waiting for some guidance before doing anything. Diane has spoken to Sal and made the
suggestion that we have a fund drive involving the town people to acquire one
of the works.
Selena Trieff expressed the desire to give the town one
of her oils. Connie Black will send her
copies of the Acquisition Policy and the forms.
Peggy reported that the final cost of the posters is $6500.00. So far we have brought in $2,582.00 in sales. Connie & Peggy made the suggestion that we try to sell them at PAAM at Thanksgiving Craft Fair along with some of our own work.
The commission met with Stefan Nofeld to discuss the future needs of the collection.
1. Finish and keep up to date the data base. The town now has the capability of
digitalizing the collection which would include images and all pertinent
information such as donors, etc.
2. Need for a curator at least part time.
3. Having and arranging traveling shows of work
4. Finding adequate storage and exhibition space.
