After solicitation two bids were received for moving the collection to the new storage area.  Mr. Borkowski addressed the current sate of the budget noting, that there are a few works undergoing conservation which will be paid out of encumbered funds.

NEW BUSINESS

The members discussed the logistics of moving the Art Collection to the new storage area.  Napi Van Dereck said that the heat will remain on in Town Hall and perhaps some of the very large pieces should remain in the building.  There will be no work done in the front hallway, so the murals there should be safe, but perhaps should be covered.  The move will probably happen soon after the building is vacated in early November.  The two bids were reviewed for the moving of the collection.  After a lengthy discussion, it was decided to use the lower bid citing the lower cost, and more flexibility.  Several members have worked with them before and have been very happy with their work.  Some of the members also volunteered to be available to oversee the work during the move.

A motion was made to hire Jim Zimmerman and Peter Macara to move the Town Art Collection to the new storage area.

Moved by: Napi Van Dereck Seconded by: Georgia Coxe  Yea: 5  Nay: 0 Abstain: 0

Stephen Borkowski will inform the other bidder of the decision.

The discussion continued about other aspects of the move and the new space.  Mr. Borkowski said that he might have the movers take some things such as the flat file and filing cabinet over ahead of the paintings.  The members also discussed covering the windows in the new space and whether to keep the carpet.  Napi Van Dereck said he would look at the carpet.

[At 4:35 the Art Commission went down to the storage area in the basement of Town Hall.]

The members looked over what had to be moved and discussed the most efficient way to move everything.  Mr. Van Dereck said that he will be meeting with the engineer of the renovation project next Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.  He said that any of the members were welcome to join him.  Once the new area is ready, Mr. Borkowski and Mr. Van Dereck will talk, and then schedule the move.

It was noted that the Architectural Study by George Elmer Browne would be well displayed at the Monument during the Town Hall Renovation.

A motion was made to loan the George Elmer Browne painting to the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum.
