Chairman’s report

The Chair discussed the status of 2 paintings currently in conservation and the status of the recently framed works and future planned hangings in the library.  After some discussion the group endorsed the ideas and direction presented by the Chair and approved the verbal timetable of conservation and framing of works to continue thru the winter.

The Chair circulated a proposed budget for fiscal 2008 which had been submitted to the Town Manager.  It is intended to be discussed in a meeting with the Town Manager during the week of December 11, 2006.  All members agreed with the proposed request.

Treasurer’s Report

A current fiscal report with expenditures to date was circulated. The sales of posters recently sold were reflected in the report and the balance in the revolving fund noted. Again the efforts of the Assistant Town Clerk, David Gardner was lauded for his help in selling posters.

Old Business

The Collections Manager updated us on her progress with the website and on other pending matters.  She stated that a number of images were missing from our records and the website.  In order to correct this, it was suggested by the Chair that we employ the Collections Manager on a separate basis to photograph the work.  After some discussion this we deemed the most economical option, in that she would have to work with any other photographer.  It was agreed that her rate of $30 per hour would be well below the market rate for such work.

Motion to hire Amy Heller to photograph artwork: Stephen Borkowski             Second: Peggy Prichett

New Business

The Chair presented two pieces of artwork proposed for donation to the collection.  The first a study for a wood block print by Edna Boies Hopkins, a gift of the Alexander family and an oil on paper by Miriam Fried, a gift of the artist.  The relative merits of both we discussed at length.

Motion to accept into the collection the watercolor by Edna Boies Hopkins and an oil on paper by Miriam Fried: Peggy Prichett             Second: Erna Partoll

Vote: 3-0-0

It was suggested that the next meeting be held in February 2007 with as much advanced notice as possible.  The Chair will circulate such dates via email in late January.

The Chair called for any discussion of new business, hearing none a motion of adjourn was entertained.

Motion to adjourn: Peggy Prichett             Second: Stephen Borkowski
