Stephen
Borkowski, Chair, called the meeting to order at 3:10 PM.
The Chairman
proceeded with his report, stating that Peter Siegel had resigned from the

He further

given a verbal estimate of $500 to conserve the Hawthorne “mudhead” and $3,000
to conserve the Ambrose Webster snow scene. The relative importance of
conserving these works was discussed amongst the members.
Due to the

With the
resignation of Peter Siegel, there is now one position on the Art Commission
for a permanent member in addition to the already vacant one for an alternate
member. Stephen Borkowski asked the members to seek out suitable candidates and
advise them of the openings.
The Treasurer,
Peggy Prichett. presented her report and explained some of the items in detail.
Stephen
Borkowski stated that Commission will continue to review the exceptional
progress of the Collections Manager and the Commission will prioritize projects
for the fall and winter months.
In reference to
the point discussed at a previous meeting by Georgia Coxe, Peggy Prichett asked
that the point be clarified with the Board of Selectmen whether the Art
Commission was responsible for the care and conservation of the outdoor
sculptures, as the Board of Selectmen had previously said that the Art
Commission would not be responsible.
Jim Bakker,
having received and reviewed the insurance values as assigned on the Stephen L.
Snow Fine Art Appraisal dated May 9, 2001, spoke to the issue of some
valuations that he felt should be changed. After some discussion it was agreed
that Jim was the most qualified to recommend changes to the appraisal
report. After discussion amongst the
Commission members it was agreed that Jim would make recommendations regarding
changes of values and correct typographical error. After some discussion,
A motion was
made to direct Jim Bakker contact Snow to update the appraisal to reflect
fluctuations in the art market. The
Commission would allow a cost not to exceed $500 for this revision work by
Snow.
