Provincetown Art Commission
February 26, 2004
Minutes
The meeting was convened at 3:30 PM. Members Georgia Coxe, Peter Siegel and Stephen Borkowski present. Excused were Peggy Pritchett and Michael Bunn.
Peter Siegel reported on the interview process for the position of Collections Manager and reviewed the qualifications of the three candidates chosen for interviewing, Kathi Smith, Robyn Watson and Jennifer Cabral.
Lengthy discussion ensued and it was determined that the candidate would be Robyn Watson among other factors based on her length of of experience working with the permanent collection of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Peter Siegel made a motion to recommend Robyn Watson to the Town Manager as the Commission preferred candidate. Georgia Coxe seconded and a vote was taken. The vote was unanimous to recommend the hiring of Robyn Watson as Collections manager. This recommendation would be given to the Town Manager as the Commission’s decision.
This issue of the Pepitone sculpture was brought up by Stephen Borkowski, who advised that lengthy research had determined that Save Our Sculpture, a federally funded program had ceased making grants. Richard Pepitone has been advised of this.
Georgia Coxe reminded us that the sculptures in the collection needed to be included in the web pages for the collection. Peter Siegel asked that the Commission review the issue of purchasing an easel for photographing works in the collection and also to investigate collections management software, it was agreed to review these at a future meeting where more members were present.
There being no further discussion, Stephen Borkowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Peter Siegel seconded. The vote to adjourn the meeting was unanimous. The meeting was adjourned at 4:11 PM.
Respectfully submitted by:
Stephen Borkowski
