Treasurers Report
Peggy passed out a report of money that has
been spent. Report lacks $1,000.00 owed
to Stefan Nofield for work on the web pages.
Peggy will ask DPW about money for delivering and bringing back Pepitone
sculpture. At this point we have spent
more than our budget especially if we include the cost of the heating cooling
system for the new storage facility. We
will probably have to dip into the gift fund (poster money).
Steve reported that floor is finished, bricks have been ordered to fill in the windows, and order for heating cooling unit will be going out probably this week. The commission decided to wait until this work is done before beginning to move work into room. Steve will confer with the DPW about getting shelving for work.
Bob Gambone looked at work on his last visit on weekend of Martin Luther King’s Birthday. He has sent 20 very complete reports of some of the reviews of work that he has completed. The commission was very pleased with the reports and feel that they should become part of an ongoing file on each piece.
Georgia has offered to write up some bios of artists for the web page. However the town has to do the actual entering of the data so she will enquire about whether we will be billed for this work.
Georgia met with a firm in Orleans that can supply a new base for “The Tourists” to replace the brick which is there. We need to spend the money we received for insurance before another fiscal year. Georgia recommended a granite base but first she is going to find out what is underneath the brick and whether we need to build another base first.
The Manor put in a request for some work to hang in their dining room. It was agreed that the work should be of small value. One suggestion was to give them a set of the posters. We deferred a final decision until we can move the work into the storage area
Steve has been talking to
Chris Busa about an article in the next issue telling about the history to the
Art Commission. Chris would like to
give a work by his father, Peter Busa, to the town.
The Hollis-Taggert
Gallery in New York is having a show of early Provincetown painters and would
like to use a black & white photo of “The Crew Of The Philomena Manta” by
Hawthorne in their catalog. Steve feels
that the art assoc. may be able to come up with one.
Steve will send samples
of posters to Posters Plus to see if they will sell them.
There will be a table at
the YearRounders for the art commission.
We will try to sell some posters and give out info about commission and
web page.
