PROCLAMATION
Be it hereby proclaimed that
WHEREAS, for over half a century, the Town of
Provincetown provided skilled nursing care services to the elderly population
of the entire Outer Cape through its ownership and operation of the Cape End
Manor Nursing Home, which became a cherished local institution and part of the
fabric of our community, served by a caring and capable workforce and a
dedicated board of directors; and
WHEREAS, Provincetown dared to
dream of a “Cape End Manor Care Campus,” by which a world class mission-driven
health care entity could bring a successful financial model to not only
continue nursing home services, but also to expand services to include assisted
living and independent living options not available in our community; and
WHEREAS, our dreams of a care
campus began to come true when Bishop George Coleman of the Fall River Diocese
agreed to a land exchange which allowed the Town to assemble a site large
enough for the project; and
WHEREAS, the voters of
Provincetown have overwhelmingly supported the transfer of its beloved Cape End
Manor to the capable hands of the New England Deaconess Association, as a proud
investment in the future of Provincetown as a year-round community;
NOW, THEREFORE, in recognition
of the groundbreaking of the New England Deaconess Association’s new facility,
the Board of Selectmen of the Town of
