A Local Comprehensive Plan
(LCP), often called a Master Plan, tells a community what it looks like today and where it wants to go in the future. It includes: assessments of existing resources and issues, projections of future conditions and needs, and consideration of collective goals and desires. We are updating the current plan
, approved in 2000, and expect the new plan to be finalized by spring 2018.
The Local Comprehensive Planning (LCP) process begins with establishing our vision and goals for where we want Provincetown to be in the next 10-20 years. A Community Visioning Forum
took place at Town Hall on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Over 100 people, including full and part-time residents, business owners, and many others who call Provincetown home, met to help define our community’s vision for the future and develop goals for the updated LCP. The information learned at the Forum will be used to draft the Visioning Statement and to begin drafting individual chapters in the Plan.
If you were unable to attend the Forum, you can still be heard! Share your input by taking the Visioning Survey which will be available on the Town’s webpage through until Saturday March 26th at Survey Monkey.
The Local Comprehensive Plan Committee
will take the lead in developing the LCP for Provincetown, placing the required elements within a sustainable framework. There are available positions on the Committee for volunteers. For more information contact Gloria McPherson, Town Planner
