Celebrate PAAM Follow-up:
Chris
McCarthy still amazed and overwhelmed
with the Celebrate PAAM event – approximately 750/Friday, 350/Saturday,
and 250/Sunday; people from Chicago, Maine, RI, lots of reporters, lots of
tours ongoing. Candy -- Chamber of Commerce was open all weekend. If people
didn’t know about it, they sent them, came back thrilled. Lynne -- PBG response
was that the weekend was great, people did more shopping. Hersh – some people
got stickers, her business up 75% from same weekend last year. Steve – model works.
Lynne – need to compare costs for return.
Looking for any and all comments and feedback. We
know we need to allow more time for delivery of packets to businesses
[especially where some are only open weekends, made it hard to deliver], need
to find out why businesses that are open did not participate, typos, data
needed.
Next? Need to identify future events, if several are
planned, can lead to a routine and economies of scale with outreach,
participation, etc. Need lead time, not too soon to plan for 2006. Lipton Cup,
Town’s Birthday 6/14/06, 2007 – 100 years PMPM cornerstone. Next agenda for
further discussion.
Raffle baskets need to be completed – arrange gift
certificates either in themes and/or dollar amounts.
MCC Adams Grant Application:
2006 MCC Adams grant application due next week, need
partner forms.
Community Arts Forum:
The Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural
Development will be hosting an informational forum on Monday, November 21, 2005
in Provincetown. Registration starts at 9:30 am, speakers must sign up, 1st
come, 1st speak. Important to have great representation. Have
speaking points from several organizations.
Visitor Survey:
Summer survey draft report complete and under
review. Fall survey was not completed by UMass, they were unable to find
students to conduct the survey, too late now. MCC open to allowing us to
conduct a Spring survey instead, but cannot extend the funds another year.
Acting Assistant Town Manager to contact Clyde Barrow and express our dismay
and unhappiness, request that he conduct both a spring survey [with grant
project funds] and a fall survey [gratis] as he owes us. Spring survey is
different. Should survey May thru mid-June, but not Memorial Day. Use same
instrument in September/October for comparison data.
Meeting Schedule:
MCCATF Meeting scheduled for 12/7/05, 11:30 am.
MCC Adams grant activities funded
in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council Adams grant.
