Impressions
and Take-away:
§
Disappointment—Selectmen couldn’t
embrace in a public way
§
Clearly— Selectmen were not up to speed
§
Expectations were different
§
Lack of preparation
What
does this mean for our work?
§
We are amore cohesive and unified group
– MCC Grant team, EDC and VSB are product and deliverable oriented
§
It’s ok to challenge assumptions of the
Selectmen – we can use our collective “power” well
What
should we do going forward?
§
The MCC Task Force will report through
the Economic Development Council (EDC)
§
We should respond to the branding issue
brought-up by BOS – Cheryl Andrews
§
Need to respond to the (multiple)
survey issue
§
We should request a response to the
substance of the 5 initiatives
§
We should request a single agenda forum
with the BOS
ü
Clearly articulate what we are doing
and recommending (manageable chunks)
ü
Balance the information and
implementation schedule for approval
Updates:

5 Initiative
Status:
1.
Branding – Create a brand for the town
for stakeholders to choose to use.
Status: Branding overview provided –
feedback from task force was to find another way to express “core values” –
difficult for people to grasp and may have a negative connotation (alternative:
the Provincetown “promise)
Next Steps:
1. Place stakeholders in context with
the town brand
2. VSB to clarify how the Town Brand is
used
2.
Starburst packaging – Use PAAM as the “test drive” for the starburst packaging
process
Status:
§
The packaging event is scheduled for November 11-13, 2005
§
Marketing tools are being developed
§
The schedule is to complement, not compete with PAAMs
activities
Next Steps:
1. Hold a meeting to prepare a Sales
Team
2. Present more details at Sept 8
meeting & work with the MCC task force to build and mobilize
3.
Streetscape improvements – utilize/upgrade Commercial Street as a draw and path
to highlight Provincetown’s cultural and arts offerings.
Status: Researching options with the
town and others for pavement options and virtual wi-fi technical capabilities
Next Steps:
1. Explore paving options and
understand sewer resolution dependencies
– September 23 (with Town Manager)
2. Explore technical opportunities for
interactive MAPs and links to sights and events (with Town Manager)
3. Improve/creat an off-season image –
with Lynne Davies & VSB

businesses to “dress-up” Commercial Street during the off season (with EDC) –

implement the virtual Provincetown Cultural Center
